WHAT'S all this about?
Wiltshire & Swindon Crimebeat is an exciting scheme launched in 1995. Its aim is to give young people an opportunity to help combat crime; it will challenge you to put some of your ideas for your own community into practice. There are no real restrictions to projects; your ideas can either be simple and down to earth or pioneering and adventurous. Wiltshire & Swindon Crimebeat has three main objectives, and to be successful in gaining funding your project will need to fulfil at least one of these.
So, the project must focus on:
- Anti Crime
- Anti Bullying
- Combating Anti Social Behaviour
WHERE does all this happen?
Projects should take place in Wiltshire or Swindon.
WHEN does all this happen?
Anytime, term time or school holidays.
WHO is it for?
Projects are for young people aged up to 25 years.
WHAT do I do now?
Wiltshire & Swindon Crimebeat encourages groups of young people to work with friends to set up a project either on their own initiative or by drawing on the advice and support which can be received through school, college and community group or youth organisation. Although you may not find it too difficult to come up with the initial proposals, you will probably need to give a lot of careful thought and planning to turn them into effective projects. That is part of the challenge of Wiltshire & Swindon Crimebeat and since 2006 Crimebeat projects can now be focused, long term sustainable projects costing more than £500.
So if you are interested in Crimebeat, identify with our aims and objectives and have an exciting idea for a relevant project in your area, then download an application form from our application page. Also read through all the related information on this page including the:
- Terms & Conditions
- Child Protection Policy
- Risk Assessment
Better still, contact the Crimebeat Coordinator to discuss your ideas – we look forward to hearing from you.
WHAT else do I need to know?
Each year we submit the most suitable project to the National Crimebeat Awards, where the winning entries and runners up receive national recognition for their projects, the winners also enjoy a fabulous day out in London and prize money to give the project additional support.
AND FINALLY?
The work of Crimebeat has been made possible by the generous support through the many donations to the High Sheriff’s Crimebeat Fund but further financial sponsorship for Crimebeat would be welcome. If you can help in any way please contact us.
