Extended Salamander

Crimebeat were delighted to fund the first 'extended' Salamander project which took place in Calne. This project which commenced in December 2007 and culminated in a celebration/presentation evening at Calne Fire Station in February 2008 in the presence of many local dignatories including, The Chief Fire Officer & The Chief Constable.
The Salamander project aims to teach young people life skills and team building exercises. The Calne project incorporated activities such as: canoeing, first aid, basic food handling, leadership, survival training & fire skills.
The High Sheriff of Wiltshire, Mr Peter Pleydell-Bouverie presented certificates to all the young people who attended the course. He said, "The High Sheriff's fund for Crimebeat is committed to sponsoring these extended courses which offers a framework for the youngsters to develop their responsibilities further in a sustainable way'
